Sustainable landscapes are constructed using natural materials to create functional outdoor spaces and wildlife habitats.  Careful project planning and using design drawings leads to rewarding landscape improvements that are low maintenance once the plants are established.

Landscape designs

Landscape design is important for planning projects. Clients have a greater awareness of possibilities and final costs. From sketch designs to detailed construction drawings, clients can chose the appropriate level of planning for their needs. Dream the dream!

Landscape designs are planned but the choice and variety of plants changes season by season. Every space becomes unique.

Using drainage and drought tolerant plants, urban gardens can add to everyone’s enjoyment on a year round basis. Designed for seasonal interest, the landscape allows for nature and people to co-habitat the space.

The lawn has been replaced with a naturalized planting scheme.West facing - hot afternoon sun, drought tolerant and self seeding perennials combined with native trees and shrubs that are non- invasive. Natural boulders enhance the space to create a low maintenance garden.

Soil and site preparation

Landscapes are transformed after excavating to remove an old lawn and to renovate or create new planting beds. Adding new soil and installing boulders and pathways provides a structure for adding plants to the garden. Soil rich in organic matter is vital for the growth of many trees, shrubs, perennials and grasses.

Walls, steps, paths and patios

Boulders, from local quarries, add structure and natural beauty to the landscape. They can be used to build walls, steps, paths and patios.

Cedar, from sustainable forest sources, can add comfort and privacy to outdoor spaces. Unique lattice screens and custom sized decks will weather slowly to a natural grey- brown colour.

Water Features

Ponds add beauty and interest to the landscape year round. Water in the garden instantly provides habitat for plants and insects, especially dragonflies and birds. The use of natural rock, small waterfalls, streams and fountains enhances every landscape through added colours, textures and relaxing sounds.

Container gardens

Winter containers add colour, texture and fragrance to decks and entrance ways during the cold months of the year. Birch poles, dogwood or curly willow branches mixed with pine, cedar and fir boughs provide a long lasting structure. Cones, berries and lights can be added for additional seasonal attraction.
